Looking for a Church?
Like any
denomination, The United Church of Canada congregations are diverse.
There are small, large, rural, urban and suburban. Some with
mainly older members, some with many young families. Some sing
contemporary music while others stick to traditional hymns.
Many claim to be welcoming of new people and many are. The
links to the right will take you to congregations that have publicly
declared themselves Affirming - striving to be inclusive of
All. They have gone through a study process and created a
Mission or Faith statement of how they will strive to be inclusive
and will have specifically made statements of how sexual orientation
and gender identity are not barriers to full participation in their
congregation. If you do not find a church on this list in your
area - we encourage you to look in your local phone book - call the
church and ask questions about how they strive to be inclusive.
We hope that you will find a congregation that fits for you.
If you do find a
church on our list close to you. Check them out and let them
know that it was because they were an Affirming Ministry that you
came! |
